William "Russell" Harp
1943 ~ 2007

Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, William "Russell" Harp, passed
away due to a massive brain hemorrhage on July 30, 2007. Russell was loved and
revered as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. He
will be greatly missed by all.
He was born on August 30, 1943 in his home at 109 1st Avenue to William
Harrison Harp and Verna Morris. Memory Grove was his playground as a child.
Russell graduated from West High school in 1961 and later served in the US
Army, Airborne division. He married Christa Haak in 1967 and they enjoyed 40
beautiful years together.
He had three children; Rebecca (Harp) Jeffery; Michael Harp; Alecia (Cross)
Wood, and his grandchildren, Amber, Matthew, Christopher, Ashley, Autumn,
Ariel, and Austin.
He served 25 years as a Salt Lake City Fire Fighter and truly loved his job and
everyone that he worked with. He was an imposing figure at 6'4 and 275 pounds
but was known as a gentle giant with the biggest heart you can imagine. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially skiing
as well as the arts and music. He enjoyed watching the sunset and the one on the day of his death was spectacular.
In lieu of flowers, Russell would wish to have you make a donation to theUniversity of Utah Burn center.
A memorial celebration followed by an honor guard ceremony will be held Sunday,
August 5, 2007, from 6-9 p.m. at the Memorial House in Memory Grove, 485
North, Canyon Road, Salt Lake City, UT.
Online condolences can be made at www.legacy.com.
Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor.
