Mike Fredrickson

Michael Richard Fredrickson, proud and loving father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike's life was one of extreme dedication and service and he impacted the lives of everyone he knew. For the last 37 years of his life, Mike was proud to serve as a Salt Lake City Firefighter. He loved his job and held many different positions, both for his home Local 1645 and the Professional Firefighters of Utah Board. Mike also served as an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the last 25 years, during which time he sponsored and changed the lives of many along the way. Mike is survived by his children Erika, Alex, Katrina and Tyler Fredrickson; his loving wife, Peggy; her sons, Zach and Ted Newsom; his only-and therefore favorite grandson-Holden Miller; his brother, Jim (Susan) Fredrickson; his sisters, Susan (David) VonBose, Beverly (Evan) Pitts; his Fire Family; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Gladys Fredrickson. The family would like to thank Huntsman Cancer institute for their generous support and care. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 2nd 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Union Labor Center located at 2261 South Redwood Rd., SLC, UT. Family visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the same location prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mike Fredrickson Memorial Fund at the Firefighters Credit Union, 124 W. 1400 So., SLC, UT 84115. Ph# 801-487-3219.
