In Memory . . .

Jerry I. Holland
Feb. 15, 1940 ~ Jan. 31, 2013

Jerry was the first of 5 children born to Buford & Effie Holland in Sanford Colorado. He grew up in Salt Lake & graduated from West High in 1958 enlisting in the US Navy shortly after. Dad was a firefighter, first with Hercules, then with South Salt Lake & retiring from the Unified Fire Department in 2000 after 32 years of service. Referred to as "Big Jer" by family & friends, he loved being a fireman and always had a story to tell! He loved to joke & tease, sometimes came across as tough & ornery, but Dad was just a big, generous, sentimental teddy bear who deeply loved his family. Jerry married Dalene Raymond in September 1965. They had 2 children Lennon (Diane) Holland & Geri (Bart) Burnside. He was the proud "Papa" to six grandchildren Kyle, Eric, Kayla, Laney, Summer & Alyssa. Jerry & Dalene later divorced but remained good friends.
Survived by his children & grandchildren, sister Kathy (Dillman) Longbrake, brothers Kenneth, Dennis (Jan) & Phillip (Faye) Holland, good friend Orville Smith and countless nieces, nephews & friends. Proceeded in death by his parents, ex-wife Dalene and granddaughter Laney.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, January 8th at the Haven Ward 2280 S 300 E, with a viewing Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday morning from 11-11:45. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
