James Dan Latsis
"No Problem"

Our devoted husband, father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was surrounded by his loving family.Dan was born in Salt Lake County, Utah on January 24, 1924 to Peter John Latsis and Hattie McCrory Latsis. He married Barbara Bliss on November 20, 1945 and celebrated 65 years of marriage with his soul mate. Survived by wife Barbara, son Calvin (Patsy), daughters Shaunna (Rick) Ringwood and Cindy (Robert) Cooper, four grandsons, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, many nieces and nephews and Lorraine McConnell Hough who has been a member of our family for 48 years. Preceded in death by infant daughter Nancy Ann, parents, brothers Robert and Norman, and sister Camille Madsen. Dan was raised in Bingham Canyon and West Jordan Utah, and was known by many in his youth as Danny Lotts. He graduated Jordan High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army Infantry in the South Pacific during World War II. Dan joined the Salt Lake County Fire Department and retired after 33 years holding the rank of Assistant Chief. He was a respected fireman, officer and mentor. Dan was a loving, patient and wise man. He showed us how a father, husband, and person should strive to live their life. He lived his life with integrity and is leaving us an unforgettable legacy. He was a good and loyal friend. Friends and family are blessed with many wonderful memories of time spent with him. He will be missed very much. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9th, 12:00 noon, at Larkin Sunset Gardens: 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah, where also friends and family may call Wednesday, June 8th from 6pm-8pm and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
