Sterling D. Nordfors
1920~2013

Bountiful-Sterling D. Nordfors (92) passed away on January 5, 2013 due to causes incident of age. He was born March 11, 1920 to John Axel and Rebecca Roberts Nordfors in Annabelle, Utah. The youngest of five children, Sterling loved working with horses and cattle on the family farm. He served a mission in the Northern States Mission where he met the love of his life, Marion Edman. They were married September 7, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple during a short leave from Sterling's service in the Coast Guard during World War II.
Sterling was a successful fireman for the Salt Lake City Fire Department for 27 years. He learned the construction trade and taught his skills to his sons and grandsons. Sterling was a talented builder as he built two homes for his family and then homes for four of his children. He regretted not being able to build his daughter, who lived in Tennessee, a house but he "just couldn't get all his tools back there." Sterling valued and enjoyed hard work and spending time with his family. Sterling and Marion made lasting friendships with the Poulson, Hansen, Brewster and Wood Families during weekly water skiing trips and yearly vacations to Bear Lake. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, riding a horse, running, reading and swinging the babies with his strong arms.
Sterling and Marion are the parents of 5 children; Cheryl Christensen, Marilee (David) Christian, Rodney (Deirdre) Nordfors, Richard (Beth) Nordfors, Jolene (Keith) Gines, 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marion Louise Edman, his parents, brothers and sisters. The family is confident the reunion with his loved ones was joyous.
His children are grateful for the love and special care given to our daddy by Val and the staff at Beehive Homes in Centerville, and Hospice for Utah.
